Call for Entries: 21st Tapirulan Illustrators Contest – FLOP Now Open

The renowned European Tapirulan Illustrators Contest, organized annually by Italy’s Tapirulan Cultural Association, launches its 21st edition themed “FLOP”. This multifaceted concept evokes failure, slip-ups, collapse, unexpected reversals, or moments when everything goes awry—inviting open, metaphorical, and critical artistic interpretations.

Selected works will exhibit at the official show in Cremona’s Museo del Violino and feature in the printed catalog. It’s a prime chance for global exposure, Tapirulan archive inclusion, and networking with curators, publishers, and European illustration audiences.

Entry Conditions:

  • Open to illustrators, visual artists, and designers worldwide (no age/nationality limits; Iranian artists welcome).
  • One original entry per person (not previously won any contest), linked directly or conceptually to “FLOP,” in square format.
  • All techniques allowed: hand-drawn, digital, collage, painting, experimental.
  • Digital submission; print version required for selected works.
  • Judging: Creativity, idea strength, visual quality, conceptual coherence, impact.
  • Artist retains rights; organizers get usage for display/catalog/promotion.

“FLOP” Layers: Project/film flops, sudden falls, personal/social failures, systemic breakdowns, wry everyday mishaps.

Fee: €15 per entry.

Prizes:

  • 1st Prize: €3,000 + solo exhibition at Tapirulan next edition.
  • People’s Choice: €500.
  • 52 works in catalog/exhibition; 12 top picks for annual calendar.
